Comparing Cement Grout and Epoxy Grout is like comparing a push-bike to a motor cycle. Furthermore, unlike other epoxy grouts on the market, the Starlike EVO catalyst component is labelled only as an irritant. It is neither corrosive nor hazardous for the environment. This is also important for the user – it makes it a bit more expensive but is so well worth it.
Read about the differences here: WHAT MAKES THIS GROUT DIFFERENT?
If you haven’t used Litokol Epoxy Grout before, please give me a call when you are about to use it, so that I can talk to you about the application process. It is not difficult, but is VERY different to Cementitious grout.

- A kitchen scale is great to measure out the grout
- If you calculate that you need 100 grams of grout, weigh out 93.7 grams Part A, and 6.3 grams Part B
- If you need, for example, 145 grams of grout, you will need:
- (145/100) x 93.7 Part A, (i.e 1.45 x 93.7 = 135.8 grams) and
- (145/100) x 6.3 Part B, (i.e 1.45 x 6.3 = 9.2 grams)
Usage:
How much grout do I need?
Litokol do have a usage calculator on their website, but it pays to remember that this is for flat runs of straight laid tile, with uniform grout gaps. In mosaics, it’s going to vary according to the width of your tesserae and interstices and eventually will be guess work. Just like mixing up sanded grout…we’re always guessing.
The easy answer is to use the same amount as you would with sanded grout. I have found that it seems to take slightly less than you would use of cementitious grout. Experience indicates that 1 gram will cover approximately 645 sq. mm (1 square inch) and you’ll probably be safe and have some leftover. Of course, It’s going to vary
- Measure your piece in millimetres (10mm = 1 cm)
- Multiply the width by the height (in mms)
- Divide the result by 645 = number of grams of MIXED grout you require.
- For example: a 30cm (12″) square piece will require (300×300)/645 = 140 grams of mixed product
