Description
Learn the basics of mosaic using glass tile and/or stained glass.
First session is an introductory session, and will involve NO materials costs. In this session we can get to know each other, and I can understand your background in mosaics (if any), and the types of mosaics you are drawn to.
We MAY do some basic cutting, and I will arrange to have a substrate suitable to your requirements available for the next session.
Classes are designed for adults, and do suit beginners, although those with some experience are also most welcome.
- Your choice of two timeslots:
- WED evenings – 5:30pm – 7:30pm ($35 per session plus materials cost)
- THURS morning 9:30 – 12 noon ($43.75 per session plus materials cost) – Currently on hold
- A social, fun atmosphere.
- work in glass tiles, stained glass or ceramic (broken plates etc.,)
- Work on your own projects: a wall plaque, plant pot, small table, sun catchers, mirrored panels, house signs, pavers, Garden rocks, Solar lights etc.
- Learn about using which materials where; tools – how to use & care for them; adhesives; substrates; safety and more.
- Learn how to use a variety of mosaic hand tools, a grinder or a Dremel (for engraving).
- You can bring your own materials if you wish.
Materials cost covers tiles, glass, adhesive, grout (cement or epoxy), and substrates. Will vary depending on materials selected, but may be approximately $10-$15 per session, and will be billed separately.
Each purchase covers 2 weeks. Please indicate the weeks you will be attending in the space provided when ordering. If the sessions are booked out, I will contact you.
Classes are held at the Community House, 33 Pritchard Cct, Richardson:
- Full kitchen facilities (fridge, microwave etc) are available at the venue.
- Ample off-street parking.
- Wear closed-toe shoes, and old clothes. Bring a full-length apron (I do have some for purchase).
- A COVERED drink bottle is recommended.
- A working, charged camera (smart-phone) is essential.
