Original Artworks by Ali Howson

I have been involved in art all my life.
As a child, I loved to draw, sketch and paint. After I completed school life, I continued to draw and turned to painting again when I moved to Melbourne in 2000. During my years in Melbourne, I held many exhibitions in the Fitzroy area.

Always interested in different mediums, I turned to encaustics in 2011 (or thereabouts), and absolutely loved making my own mediums.

After a shoulder injury curtailed my brush paintings, I dabbled in Flow Art, but whilst I loved the uncertainty of it, and the colours, I preferred to have more control over the outcome, so decided that it wasn’t for me.

After a life spent collecting glass, I now work with stained glass mosaics. I created Merlin Mosaica because I was unable to source the unusual product I was looking for in Australia. For the past few years I have focussed on creating simple pieces as product demonstrations, and as samples for my mosaic classes.

I work in a variety of styles – but always in glass, although some pieces may include beads, china or found objects..
