Description
How much epoxy grout do you really need? Epoxy grout is more expensive than cement grout, so you want to minimise the amount of wastage when using it.
There are some mosaic artists who believe you can “eyeball” the mixing calc for this grout, and some who use incorrect approximations. Whilst some of these do work (the product is rather forgiving), they will at best cost you more money (as you may use more hardener than is necessary), and at worst, can lead to grout failure. There are some who claim that Litokol provides more hardener in the tub than is required – this is not so, as the product is designed as a single use product, and tilers typically pour ALL of the hardener into the tub and mix as a complete pot, discarding any unused product at the end of their job.
To assist you all, I have developed this FREE, accurate calculator:
- It applies to all NEW FORMULATION Litokol epoxy grouts (translucent, coloured and metallic) – BLACK TUB
- The NEW formulation has slightly different mixing ratios to the old product
- The Calculations are built using the mixing ratios published by the manufacturer and available in the product Technical Data Sheets
- Other brands may have different mixing ratios
- Works in millimetres & grams, or inches and ounces
- It is easy to use, and never expires
- The calculator is an excel spreadsheet that you can download for FREE. I have been told that it also works beautifully with Apple Numbers. It may also work with other spreadsheet programs that I have no knowledge of.
- I offer this as a free service, and do not provide any support. It is very easy to use, but you do need to know excel.
The calculator is provided courtesy of Merlin Mosaica. Although based on the manufacturers published product mixing ratios, it is not endorsed by Litokol. Use at your own risk.
