Cures rock-hard without firing, has considerable strength and is designed for extreme outdoor conditions.
To use, you just add water, mix it, knead it, sculpt it.
Pal Tiya Premium:
- Ships in plastic pails with handles and a tamper-evident lid, for ease of handling and storage.
- can be used for small ornaments, moderately sized sculptures or large pieces of public art
- is very strong, enabling a range of shapes and sizes. Smaller pieces can be built on a cardboard and foil shape (“armature”)
- has a two hour working time
- can be continuously added to over time (days, weeks or months later) as you need. Each additional layer permanently bonds to the last one
- can be carved and shaped allowing for tremendous detail
- cures somewhat like cement does, and is specially designed to be permanent for the outdoors
- cures over several days to a stone-like hardness, as long as it is kept damp to wet.
- can be painted
- Mixing ratio is approximately 4 parts Pal Tiya to 1 part Water, depending on ambient temperature.
- Shelf Life: 12 months. However, as long as the product is stored in the sealed tub in a dry, cool location and at least 9cm above any concrete flooring, this may be extended
- depends on the humidity of your climate
- if you have a partially used container, we recommend filling the void with bubble wrap or polystyrene off-cuts
- Supplies you will need:
- Aluminium foil
- A Hot Glue Gun (and refills) – readily available from Craft and Hardware outlets
- a selection of Modelling tools. Merlin Mosaica stocks a good range here
- an old kitchen fork
- Wire coat-hangers and stiff cardboard are also useful for creating you armature (the “skeleton” of your piece)
- Plastic bags and old towels for curing your creation
- water
By day 2 you can carve it, grind it and chisel it.
By day 6 it is nearing its full cure (70%).
By day 28 you will have 100% cure which is between 7 and 13 times stronger than cement.
The longer you let it cure the stronger it gets!
