Description
This product adds another dimension to your work, and is very cost effective! I am selling in 1 kg bags.
NOTE: The product is fibre-reinforced, and does contain visible fibres. You may want to sift before use if you are intending to apply a thin coat (or remove them with tweezers if they clump on the surface).
Free Postage on orders above $250 will not apply if a Seniors/Pension Discount code is used. Please consider carefully which option presents the best value to you.
Some errors may occur in shipping calculations, due to the complexities of combining products in one order. If you have overpaid shipping I will refund, or issue a credit. If you have underpaid, I will invoice for the difference.
I operate this business without assistance. Whilst I DO endeavour to ship as soon as I possibly can, I cannot guarantee to ship out the same day as the order is received. I am currently shipping orders on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.
I package carefully. However, damage may occur during transit. Product is shipped entirely at your own risk.
International Shipping:
My website does not allow international customers to check out. Please e-mail me a list of the products you want (you can create a wishlist and email it to me), your shipping address and the preferred method of payment. I will prepare a quote and email it to you. If acceptable, I will send a payment request/invoice. Items will be shipped once payment has cleared.
Apologies – I do NOT ship glass internationally.
Your understanding is appreciated.
Preparing your project:
- Because of the fluid nature of the product, seepage can occur (as shown), so take care to glue well.
- Clean excess glue away well, as thick deposits may show through the finished layer.
- Projects should have an edge to stop product flowing off your substrate:
- You can create a temporary dam with a few layers of painters tape, or some blue-tac;
- create a tiled edge (grouted);
- Use a frame; or
- use one of our Walled Boards, as I did. Available here.
- Porous substrates should be primed prior to application.
- Make sure your work is positioned on a LEVEL surface where it can remain undisturbed until set (approx. 10 mins at 23ºC).
- As a cementitious product, a P95 mask and gloves should be used when handling dry material.
- Can be coloured:
- As with most cement products, no more than 10% pigment should be added.
- Add colour to dry powder, and stir well.
- Adding pigment will make the product dry out more quickly, so you should mix it a bit wetter (but not too much)
- The grey version is NOT suitable for light colours (refer photo). I have added some white and some coloured pigment to the Sail Away piece, but you will never truly get it light!!
- The white version can take light colours, but is reinforced with additional fibres, so is a little more difficult to use.
Usage:
- You are aiming for a pourable consistency – somewhere between pouring cream and thickened cream.
- Mix the required amount into clean cold water.
- For the GREY product, Ratio is 22.5 to 25mls water to 100gms powder (will vary depending on temp)
- 25mls water weighs 25gms. So if you want to mix 100 grams of product you will need to add 22.5-25 grams of water (approx.).
- Can be used in thicknesses between 1mm and 40mm.
- For the WHITE product, Ratio is 21.5-22mls water per 100 gms powder (depending on temp).
- 22mls water weighs 22gms. So if you want to mix 100 grams of product you will need to add 22 grams of water (approx.).
- Can be used in thicknesses between 3mm and 20mm.
- Stir smoothly. Do not shake, as this introduces air bubbles.
- apply immediately after slaking (note slaking time below).
- Pour slowly onto your piece
- use a poker, pick or toothpick to encourage the mixed product to flow into corners and small areas.
- Leave to set, undisturbed until set (approx. 10 minutes).
- Clean utensils straight away, or dispose of responsibly.
